Uttarakhand CM inaugurates Gram Swaraj Abhiyan in Pitthoragarh

Dehradun  Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan from Pitthorgarh on Saturday. The first day was observed as Samajik Nyay Divas. The chief minister paid homage to Dr BR Ambedkar by garlanding the portrait of the leader here. He also unveiled the Pitthoragarh (Aanwala Ghat-Ramganga) Pumping Drinking Water project worth Rs 79.44 crores. Speaking on the occasion, he said that we were observing the Dr. BR Jyanti as Samajik Nyay Diwas and its objective was to bring about social harmony, social justice and social equality in the society. He said that we have to incorporate the vision of Dr BR Ambedkar and live harmoniously with each other. He said that the government was paying special attention towards improving health services in the state. He said that district hospital of Pitthoragarh has become a hospital with largest number of doctors where 27 doctors are discharging their services.

CM said that Rs 10 crores have been allocated for the under construction base hospital at Pitthoragarh and Nursing College will begin working in three months from now. He said that in addition to this the facility of dialysis, teleradiology and telemedicine will be started soon in district hospital Pitthoragarh. He said that 125 Kilowatt generator will also be provided to the hospital. He said that the district women hospital will also be upgraded.

Mr Rawat further said that PM Narendra Modi has envisioned a dream of providing houses to homeless by 2022, electricity for all, clean drinking water, toilets construction, and employment to one from each family and providing safety for the girl child. He commended the efforts of raising the gender ration under Beti Bachao Beti Padao in district Pitthoragarh from 813 per thousand to 930 per thousand.

Speaking while inaugurating the Gram Swaaraj Campaign, he said that the government was making an effort to bring the economically weaker sections in the mainstream. He distributed cheques of Rs 50000 each under Gaura Knaya Dhan Yojna to six beneficiaries on the occasion. He distributed gas chulhas to ten and gas connection to five beneficiaries under Ujwala Yojna. Ten beneficiaries were given free electricity connection under Saubhagya Yojna. Under Beti Bachao Beti Padao campaign he inaugurated the sanitary napkin insulator and vending machines to be installed at six public places and GGIC inter colleges in the district.

Cabinet minister Prakash Pant said that Pitthoragrh was a place with difficult geographical terrain and lacked in health services. He said that during his tenure in 2007-2012 the nursing and Engineering College were established and a base hospital was approved so that health services can be improved. He said that an ICU unit has been established with the support of Hans Foundation in the base hospital of the district which will lead to better health facilities. He said that the pumping scheme of Anwalghat Ramganga will resolve the drinking water problem of Pitthoragarh. MLA Bishan Singh Chufal, Secretary Health Nitesh Jha, Additonal Secretary Health Jugal Kishore Pant, Mata Mangla and Bholey Maharaj from The Hans Foundation and other officials were present on the occasion.
