DEHRADUN Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat gave away prizes and certificates to winners who secured first, second and third positions in 11differnet trades in ‘India Skills Uttarakhand-2018’ competitions, which was organised by Skill Development department and Employment department held at IRTDA auditorium in Dehradun on Friday. He gave away cash prize money of
Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 each to participants who secured first, second and third positions, respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that a separate Skill Development department has been formed for skills development in the state. He said that state government has taken a potent step to fulfill Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s vision to make youth skillful. He said that state government has set a target of providing one lakh jobs to youths till 09 November, 2020 linking with skill training. He said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to open skill development centres under the state component. He said training on 32 different trades have been given to 11,911 youths in during the year 2017-18.
The Chief Minister said industrial institutions should have a balanced vision, considering the demand of skilled persons in the trade. He said Uttarakhand has a huge scope in the field of tourism. He said that other tourist destinations should be developed apart from religious tourism, so that tourists from different category can visit Uttarakhand. He said that Uttarakhand can become a tourism hub. He said construction work on the All-weather road at a cost of worth Rs 12700 crore is going to be completed in the coming years. The work on the Rishikesh-Kranprayag rail line has also started and work to acquire land is almost completed for Roorkee-Muzafarnagar-Deoband rail line. The work on the railway line will be completed by the government of India.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash has said that Uttarakhand has done commendable work in the field of skill development. He said skill development would help youths to get jobs after being trained in different fields of their choice. He said agriculture and industries are priorities in Uttarakhand in skill development field.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Secretary, Skill Development and Employment said that the selected candidates participated in state level competition which was held between April 15 to April 18 in Dehradun in the field of cooking, restaurant, auto body repair, car painting, welding, mechanical engineering design (CAD), mobile robotics, beauty therapy and hair dressing. He further said that selected candidates would participate in zonal and national level competitions, and later national level candidate would participate in world level competition, slated to take place at Kazan in Russia. A short film of skill development was also shown.
BJP leader Vinay Goyal, Director Employment Jeevan Singh Naganyal, Deputy Director, Employment Chandrakanta, Regional Employment Officer Ajay Singh were present during the function.
